The Monthly Meeting There weie present at the January meeting on Saturday:— Messrs Batiy (chairman), Sutton, Schlaepfer, Johnston and Glasson. MACPHERSON'S BRIDGE.
The chairman reported that it had been arranged to put in three feet pipes at MacPherson's bridge.
GLASSON'S CREEK
The chaitman reported that no tenders had been received for the drain at Glasson's creek. It was decided to authorise the chairman and Mr Glasson to proceed with the work by day work if they could not let a contract. NEW PAERATA ROAD.
The chaiiman said he did net think there would be very great difficulty in getting the line of the new read to Paerata through the swamp alter.d. So far he had not been able to meet the land-owners on the spot. The chairman and Mr Schlaepfer were authorised to proceed with the work providing the deviation rnuld be eecured. THE SURFACEMAN. The member for the district in which the surfaceman working wa3 empowered ta put on another man to assist him. GENERAL RATE. On the motion of Mr Sutton, j seconded by Mr Johnston, it was j decided to strike a general rate of id in the £. j
The chairman: They will think you are letting them off light this year. Mr Johnston: Not when they take (he County rate into consideration.
Mr Sutton: I think with what we are paying the County Ccuncil, Karaka ought to get off lightly.
MERRINGI'ON'S HILI
A plan of the deviation of the road at Merrington's hill was laid on the tabi-\—Tne plan was adopted and it -vas decided to pay Mrs M:rrington £b on completion of dedication deeds for land taken. GORSE,
The chaiiman explained that he had instructed a man to clear gorse from a section rear the Rumiman station. He 'hought it was an absentee section but when the maD had started the owcer, Mr W. Cossey, appealed End stepped the wosk. Mr Johnston explained that Mr Cosjev Uy claim to twj other sections at the back. Both of these were covered with gorse.
It was resolved that the clerk ascertain if Mr Ccasey was the owner of the sections claimed, and if so'that Mr Coespy be given 14 days in which to clear the frontages of the sections cf gorse. It was decided to declare gorse a noxious weed in No. 1 ward providing this could be legally doce. DKURY-KARAKA BOARDS.
A letter from the Drury Road Board contained a reeolution pas£ed at theil" December meeting regretting trie tone of (he Karaka Road Board's discussion rc the proposed alteration of boundaries. Mr Sutton: We have litished with the matter. What's the good of Opening it up again?

It was decided to place orders for SUO yards of 2J inch mets! with both the Motningside quairy and Craig and Co. The tender of F. Co;ney for quarrying, spawling and crushing 1500 yards metal at os yd per yard, at Casey's quarry, was accepted, subject to his entering into a propar contract with the Boar.' 1 . It was resolved to call for tenders for cartirg metal in lots of 250 yards or more from Runciman station, THE BLACK BRIDGE. Mr Glasson mentioned that a new plaok was required at lh9 Black bridge.—Work authorised. HIDING BOUNDARIES. J. Henry, councillor for the riding, wrote asking if the Board favoured the proposed altfration of the Drury and Ma'iku liding boundaties affecting Drury and Karaka rosd districts. The Board decided ti apply for infcrmaiion cs to what the alterations were.
