PRESBYTERIAN PICNIC. The Presbyterian Sunday School picnic was held in Mr Pyne's paddock on Friday, when the splendid weather attracted a large crov/d. Rac«s and games fcr young and old made a pleasant day's outing. Kev. J Kearney, Messrs Craig, Abbott and No»rie, were ths committee and worked hard to make a success cf the outingTHROWN FROM A TRAP. Rev. L. Foulke?, Anglican minister at Pokeno, had the misfortune on Sunday to be thrown out of his trap. In crossing a big culvert on the Maurgatawhiri road the horse shied with the result that the trap was upset. Mr Foulkos fortunately esCiped with no worse injury than a bad shaking. HARVESTING. Harvesting operations are in full swing. This season a large area lias been sown in oats and everywhere binders may lie seen at work. The crop generally 13 short in the straw but heavy. SHORT OF MAIER. Although the spell of dry wea'her has been highly _ sati factory for harvesting operations it has been very severe on the tank supplies, the reault being that eome of the settlers are now cartirg water for domestic purposes. THE CREAM SUPPLY. As a result of the grass drying up so quickly the milk supply at the three creameries Marainarua, Maungatawhiri and Pokeno Valleyhas fallen very suddenly during the past fortnight. The output now is not much more than half of what it was in th 3 flush of the season in the early |>art of December.
