"We nothing extenuate, nor »et down auaht in malice"
For tie second time we have plea* sure in extending uur heartiest Christmas greetings to the people of this district. During the past twelve months all of us have douhtless bad our individual trials, but it becomes 01,9 and ail to forget if possible at Ghristmastide the woes and worries of life. On the whole the year in tbii district has been satisfactory, although the unsettling strike and the ruinously low potato market have been the cause of much commercial anxiety. These conditions have naturally bad a bad effect upon tradespeople. Still the general volume of business has been good. For hay-making and harvesting the rainy conditions in November and December have been detrimental, but on tbe other, and it has been a wonderful season for the growth of grass. Under all the circumstances there is no need tor gloom, and as a community we may look upon the future with glad and grateful hearts. It is in this spirit that we wish our readers A MERRY CHRISTMAS.
