On Friday there passed away at his residence, at Mt. Eden, another of the rapidly diminishing band of pioneor settlers in the person of Mr George Harper. Deceased, who was born in Ireland 82 years ago, left his home as a boy for Canada. From " Our Lady of the Snows" ho came to Australia and from there crossed to New Zealand, landing in this Dominion over 50 years ago. He first of all resided in Hokitika and 38 years ago came to Auckland, where he entered business as a merchant, the firm being known as Coupland and Harper. Deceased was to the last a wonderfully activo man and always walked into Auckland from his residence iu preference to using the trams. Deceased leaves a widow and four daughters, Mrs I. Motion (Pukekohe), Mrs D. McLeod (Eemuera), Mrs E. Dacre (Mt, Eden) and Miss Harper, and a son to mourn their lobs.
