THE WAIKATO SHOW.
This District's Exhibitors. The Waikato A. and P. Association's show, held at Claudeland?, Hamilton, on Tuesday and Wednesday, was well attended. There was an increase of 104 in the entries as compared with last year. From this district there were not so many exhibits as are usually sent forward. Neither were there so many visitors. Amongst those who went to the show were Mr J. Wylie and Mr Baxter (president and secretary respectively of the Franklin A. and P. Society), Rev. S. Nixon and Mr J. Adams. The Ngaruawahia breeder, Mr E. J. Eogers, was the only extensive exhibitor of pigs and scooped the pool. Championships were won as follows : Pedigree Shorthorns—Bull: W. Taylor's Prince Buby. Cow : W. Taylor's Bertha. Pedigree Jerseys.—Bull; W. J. Hall's Lord Nelson. Pedigree Holsteins.—Bull: W. I. Lovelock's King Segis; reserve champion, J. B. Thomas's Waitaki Pledge l)e Kol Burke. English Leicesters. —Ewe: George Graham. As shown below Mr C. T. Barriball was an extensive exhibitor in sheep. Mr W. Smeed, of Tuakau, gained second prize in a strung cla&s (or two-year-old draught colts. The judge's decision in this class seemed to be pretty freely criticised, many ot the recognised judges favouring the second prizs animal. Mr E. T. Bent, of Waiuku, exhibited that grand and consistent har.ter. lom Burns, and although he did not succeed in gaining first prize the horse gave a very good display of hunting style jumping. Competition was never keener or better than at the show just closed as far as hunting classes were concerned, but Tom Burns gained a place in each class in which he was a contestant. Mr J. J. McKinney, the wellknown Pukekohe poultry breeder, won a first and second prize for duck and hen eggs respectively. Mrs J. Wylie was second for heaviest dozen hen eggs. Ladies from this district acquitted themselves well in the home industries section Turkish delight, toffee, home-made sweets and cocoanut ice, Miss E. Uodgers first in each case. Barriball 1 and 2. Ewe, any age, suckling lamb: C. T. Barriball 1 and 2. Three ewes, under 18 months : C. T. Barriball 2. One ewe, under 18 months: C. T. Barriball 1 and 2.
