TERRITORIALS' SOCIAL.

The local territorials and senior cudets held a very successful social in the public hall on Thursday evening. In spite of the downpour of rain there were about forty couples present. The O.C. was in attendance and highly commended the young men upon their efforts to raise sufficient funds to provide the proposed regimental colours. Dining the evening Messrs Ivernot and Wallis gave several songs. Messrs Cossey and Morgan provided the music and Corp. Johnson, Sergt. '/ißullen, and Pt. Mack efficiently out the duties of M.C.'s. The catering was gratuitously carried out by lady friends who deserve much praise for their efforts. TENNIS. The local Tennis Club journeyed to Clevedon on Saturday to play a tournament match. The games were keenly contested, and the day's play resulted in a win for the visiting team. The B team played a match on the local courts against a team from the city, and won by 17 to b. BOWLING. On the bowling green a good game was played for the club Stars, which have been held for some time by Messrs Oldham, McMurray, McLean and Jones. The challengers ■sere Messrs Tatton, Morrison, Morgan and Croskery. Very close were played, but tho holders won by 22 to 11 points.
