THE Pukekohe and Waiuku Times PUBLISHED TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1913.

THE FLOWER SHOW.

" We nothing extenuate, nor set down aught in malice."

» We desire to give a final reminder of the first flr.wer show to be held under the auspices of the Pukekohe District Horticultural Society. The show, which is to be opened at Buckland's horse bazaar, Pukekohe, at 3 o'clock tc-morrow afternoon, will be continued in the evening and again on Thurscay afternoon and evening. The Society has the good fortune to be in a splendid financial position, so that with anything like general support from the gßrden lovers of this district che sound establishment of the Society is assured. Everyone will admit the refining influence of flowers, and the inculcation of a love of the beautiful in nature ought to be assisted in every way. In addition to flowers the Society caters for the work of dainty fingers in fancy and plain needlework, for the practical grower of fruits and vegetables and for a variety of classes calculated to directly interest the children. That there is a geneial desire to help has been shown in the readiness of a large number of donors of special prizes to subscribe, by tbe giving of the use of the horse bazaar without cost, by the offer to light the function by gas free of charge, and in a number of other ways. The things which will tell against the function are tne facts that the season has proved unsuitable to ths show date and that the people of the district have n-jt previously had ths opportunity of acquiring ths delightful hobby of growing flowers for exhibition. But from tne int rest that is being bken in the general affairs of the Society we hav 3 no doubt at all that this week the foundations will be laid for a succession of flower and art shows which will prove of great benefit to all those who associate themselves with the movement. We wish the show and the Society every possible success. [since the foregoing was written the time for closing entries has passed, the promised exhibits numbering 500, As many people expressed a desire for extension of time, eutries for this show will now be received, without late entry fee, up to 9 o'clock to-morrow (Wednesday) morning.
