THE FIRE BRIGADE.
The annual meeting of the Pukekohe Vdunteer Fire Brigade took place in the Masonic hsll on Wednesday evening, when a very enjoyable amoke concert was held. The Mayor and councillors were prc-ent, the Mayor in the chair. Representatives from the various Auckland brigades were present and assisted in making the evening a success.
Songs and recitations were given throughout the evening, and Mr J. King accompaniel the various singers and rer.dertd some very acceptable selections on the piano. Various toasts were proposed and speeches delivered The members of the local brigade were re-elected to the various following positions:—Captain, Mr A. Edgar; foreman, Mr E. Wood; first branchman, Mr L. Brown; first assistant branchman, Mr T. Chiplin; second branchman, Mr W. Adams; second assistant branchman, Mr H. Thornton; hydrantman, Mr G. Dix; junctionmen, Messrs A. Tawse and M. Brown; fireman, Mr Len. ton; messenger. Mr Lea. Ejginton; treasurer, Mr K. F. Webster; secretary, Mr H. Thornton. The secretary read a short report outlining the work that had been done by the men, and expressed the opinion that if a fire occurred the residents of Pukekobe would appreciate the Brigade and realise its value.
