THE POTATO MARKET.
"We nothing extenuate, nor set down auaht in malice
We desire to warn potato growers of this district that special circumstances have arisen of which they should take account for the next week or two. Because of the slips oil the i ail way line south of Taihape the railway department at Pukekohe are refusing to accept consignments for stations south of the blockage. Attempts weie made to ship via Auckland with a view to thereafter send-, ing the produce up the line from Wellington, but telegraphic advices received at noon to-day urged that this should not be done as tho Wellington waterside workers were out on strike. Before proceeding with any further diggiug we advise growers to make enquires ipto the effect that these devolopments are likely to have upon the markets for some short time ahead.
