WAIUKU.
BOWLING AND TENNIS CLUB. On Thursday, 16th inst., the Waiuku bowling and tennis club opened their season. The weather was somewhat dull and threatening, but notwithstanding there was a gocd attendance of players and their friends. At 2 p.m. the president, Mr R. J. Harri', stepped on to the green and in a neat speech referred to the pleasure it gave him to see so many present on the opening day and especially the visitors from Pukikohc. He trusted the stasun would he an enjoyable and posperous one for all. He then called upon Mtb Harris to throw tbe jack, atter which tbe green was declarfd open for play, amidst cheers. Mrs Rossiter then opened the croquet seacon by hitting the first ball and Miss Harris likewise opened the tennis court for play. Three cheers were given and play commenced. Afternoon tea and ample refreshments were dispensed by Mrs Harris and the laay members during the afternoon, and a very pleasant time was spent. The Pukekohe bowling club was represented by Messrs W. Adams, J. Adams, F. tigeinton and Perkins. The lawns aid green were in very nica order, and reflected great credit on th 9 green superintendent and caretaker. The scoring wss as follows: Rink No. I.—F. Perkins, W. Adams, A. M. Bairiball and R. J. Harris (s), 20; G. Stone, J. Selby, J. Gribble and Stevenson (Stanley Bay), 23. Rink No. 2.--A. E. King, J. Adams, G. V. William', R. T. Reid (8), 24; J. W. Jordan. Egginton, S. T. Rossiter and E. Mahony (Auckland), 24.
