HUNUA.
FALLS AND ELECTRICITY. A pubic meeting was held in the Papatottoe public school on Monday evening to consider the matter of lighting the district. Mr Waters, of Papatoetoe, occupied the chair, and there was a very good attendance of residents. The proposal that the Hunui Falls should be harnessed for the purpose of supplying electric light to the districts of Papatoetoe. Manurewa and Papakuta was discussed. A tier the qucition o.' cost had been gone into at some length, it wa* unanimously resolved: "That a com mitte; consisting of (hs chairmen of the Papakura J'own Board, Papakura, Manurewa, and Papatoetoa lioad Boards, Papatoetoe and Manurewa Progressive Leagues, and the Manukau County Council, be formed to obt;in ell rtqui ite information as to the power available at the Hunua Falls, and the uses that could be made of the same, and to report to a further meeting." The chairman afterwards spoke of the remarkably rapid growth of Papatoetoe, and pointed out that closer settlement necessitated a daily delivery of letters. He also mentioned uiat the authorities vere considering alterations to the railway station, which would probably ba removed to a position below the road crossing.
