CATHOLIC CONCERT.

Our Tuakau correspondent writes : Quite ths most successful concert of the year was held in fhe hall cn Wednesday evening, the proceeds in aid of the buildirg fund of the new Catholic Church. The concert was organised by Mesdarnes T. McGahan, G. McGahaD, B. G. Geraghty ard Miss Foley (secretary), and they have reason to be justly proud of their endeavours. It was a line night and people , throi.ged from all directions, taxing | the seating Eccr-nnnodation of the 1 hall to the utmost, many in fact l being unable to obtain admission. ! The programme was a lengthy but ! excellent o/ie. Heckles contributions j by local singers, valuabla assistance was rendered by performers from Auckland and tha surrounding districts. The overtures were played by Mr ard :vir« Goldsmith; songs by Mrs Lino In, Miss Bsgnall, Rev. Father Skinner, Messrs Kcrnot, Owens, A. Smith, S. Smith, Walker, Cradock; cornet solo, Mr McMahon; recitations, by Miss Deeble, Rev. Father Skinner, who had lo respond to several encores, arid Mr Morgon; Highland Fling, by Miss Leighton, and a ballet by Misses V. Geraghty, M. Strahan and D. Irvine. Much prai-e is c'ue to Mrs Hunter for the pleasing manner in which she played tlie accompaniments. A feature of t'ne evening's proceedings was the splendid music supplied by the Tuakau Band. It was indeed an ultraction; several items wure given in the township before marching to the Hall to further delight those listeners who had gathered lo hear the strains ti "Morn Winks," "Yankee Doodle," Red Wing," etc. 'I hi j speaks volumes for the wonderful prcgi< 3s made in such a short of time and gives promise of gre;it thines to corn?. After Ihs conceit Rev. Father Tigar made an appropriate little speech and thanked all those who had fo ably helped. Supper was served and then flic floor cleared for dancing, the music being provided bv Misses Mayall, Geraghty find Mr Stevenson.
