WAIUKU.
THE NEW STEAMER. Some time ago th« Northen Stzanrship Company decided upon an improved passenger setvica between Onehunga ard Waiuku, ana then p!aced a contract with the Thorneycroft Shipbuildirg Company, at Home, to construct and send out an up-to-date river ve3sel. The order was promptly ccmplitd with, the little vessel wa? buil', underwent a ratisfactry ttial, was hauled up, tak:n tj pieces in sections, packed in huge cases, shipped to Auckl:nd, and then«.e cn to Or.cbunga. For a number cf weeks past Messrs Massey Brothers have been reconstructing the boat—which is of steel —and the vessel was ready lor hunching cn Wednesday. The vesael will be known as the Waiuku and will make the trip between Onehunga and Waiuku in much faster tima than any steamer previously etgaged in the trade. She is a twin tunnel boat, has two decks and a eun deck, and will carry passengers only.
