STOCK SALES.

Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:— We held a charing sale cn account of Mr S. Carter, Mercer, on Thursday, August 28th. There was a la/Re attendance, and high values were obtained. The cows were a nice lot, and trrt with keen competition. Beet cows made from £IG to £l9 ss, others £7 10s to £l2, heifers £5 to £7 10a.

On Saturday, August 30th, at Pckeno, we held a special sale of Mr John Dean's dairy cows. There was a fair attendance, and satisfactory prices weie obtained.

The New Zealand Loan ar.cl Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports:— At the Papakura yards on Monday we held a special dairy con sale, when 460 cows and heifers cams forward, and met with a ready sale at late rates. Best cows close to profit sold at from £lO to £l3 ss, others more backward £5 to £8 10s, aged and inferior cows £3 ti £4 10s, best heifers £8 10s to £lO 15b, others £4 to £6 10s. The advertised heifers from Mr 11. Sutherland sold at from £6 to £9; Karaka Land Company's heifers, £6 to £8 ss; and other special lines s)ld at £5 to £9. Bulls made £4 10s to £7 15s. At the Papakura Yards on Tuesday we held our usual monthly sale, when 1870 head of cattle of al! dtscriptiona were yarded, and. with lew exceptions, everything charged hands under thn hammer, A line of 300odd grown steers from the north were an extra well-bred lot, although backward in condition. Three to four-year-oli steers sold at trom £6 15j to £9 8s 6d, two to three-year-old steers £5 8s (id to £6 12s 6d, yearlings to two-year-olds £3 Is to £5 5?, calves £1 8s to £2 19s, heifers suitable for dairy purposes £3 17s tid to £5 10s, empty cows £3 bs to £5 Bs, empty heifers £2 17a tid to £4 15s. dairy cows £4 17s 6d to £9 ss, beef at Westfield rates.
