Design of Building. The new chamters for the Franklin County Council, which are to be erected in Pukekohe, nil! mark still another step in the district's pngrtss. The site of the building is in Hallstreet, a couple of sections to the south of the new premises now nearing completion for occupation of the "Times" newspaper proprietary. The design of the structure shows that when computed the ofhc.s will be both commodious and orramental. The whole of the exterior is to be plastered, whila the front will te fi ished' in red plaster md tuckpoiritd to represent buck?. The columns at e.ch Bide of the main entrance aid those at each side and in trie centre of the large windows at each side of the entrance will te finished in oidinary cement plaster, and the otner exterior finishings will alro be carried out in this material.

Concrete step? will had up to the main entrance, where a vestibule is first met with. This vestibule leads into a lorg corridor, 6 feet wide. On the left of the corridor u a public space, and behind this will be the council chamber, which will ba 28J feet by 14 leet. This room will be ceatly finish d, ar.d the scats for the members of the council will be arranged in horseshoe fashion. Behind the chamber a committee-room, 14 fest by 10 feet, will be situated. To the rear of this there will be a small passage, from which the contractors' rocm, 7 feet by 8 feet, is to be entered.

To the right of the corridor in the front of the building aii assistant clerk's room, 10 feet by 10 feet, is provided for. The county clerk's room, 14 feet by 14 feet, will be to the rear of this. Then coma two strorg rooms, each with 14 inch walls, and each with an area of 6£ feet by 6J feet. At the back of the strong rooms the rl*ns provide for an engiced's room, 18 feet by 14 feet. Mr L. C. A. Potter, of Pukekohe, is the archite:t for the building, and tenders close on Thursday, September 4th.
