LATE MR MELLSOP.
County Council's Condolence. Ac Thursday's meeting of the Franklin County Council, Before the minutes were taken, the chairman (Mr Motion) said that before proceeding to business he desired to propose that tha clerk write a htt;r to the widow of the !at3 Mr A. E. Mellsop, acknowledging the long and faithful services that the deceased gentleman had rendered. Although Mr Mellsop had not been very much associated with the Council he had been chrk of the Waipipi Road Board, of which he, (Mr Motion) had been a member for some six years. And during that tsrm Mr Mellsop had carried out his work faithfully and well.
Cr i'enall seconded thi motion of condolence. Daring his membership and chairmanship he held Mr Mellsop in very great e3teem. Mr Mellsop was always ready to do everything for the Board and was prompt in all his actions. In losing Mr Mellscp's services the diatrct had lost a very great help-mate and friend.
Mr Higginson eudcrsed what the previous speakers had said. Mr Mellsop, he said, was an honest, straight-forward man, and they could say nothing better than that of anvone.
Crs Campbell, Lyon?, Dynes Fulton and Wilcox al?o spoke of the esteem in which they held the late Mr Melhop, and tha uiotion of condolence was carried in siler.ee, the memoers standing.
