TUAKAU.

PROPERTY CHANGES HANDS. Mr McFarlane, of Otahuhu, has purchased Mr L. Haying's farm, Tuakau, of about 150 acres. Mr McFarlane also takes over the plant and stcck as a going conce'n, and is letting the milking on shares. The property is a very tir.e one. CATHOLIC CHURCH IMPROVEMENTS. It is pleasing to note in connection with the new Catholic Church that the suggestion made in these columns some weeks ago is being carried out. We refer to the new porch addition to tha church. Although the process of building is not very far advanced it is already apparent that the addition will be a vast improvement. During the week the writer had the pleasure 01 being shown something of tha work that has been carried out. A large circular window hss been inserted in the main building abovs the porch which adds greatly to the beauty of the general design Upon completion of the porch a neat bell turret is to be erected. The question of having stone step 3 built from the road to the church door has also been discussed. May a suggestion be ventured in this connection'.' Your corresponded has had the privilege of seeing some of the Catholic churches or note in Europe, and while it is impossible to attempt the S2me scale of magtiiiicence here a nicely-graded circular path, leaning from the road to the new porch would/ a worthy imitation of tha be& Alul arrangements of some of the parent churches. It would perhap? je expecting too much to carry our comparison further, otherwise I would suggest a colonade and central fouotain, However, the new church can hardly expect to compare with St. Peter's in this respect. Altogether the Catholic community at Tuakau are to be congratulated upon the loyal support accorded to their church and upon the results obtained.
