THE KARAKA RAINFALL. The rainfall in July wan 4.82 inches; numbar of rainy days 22. This is somewhere about tfce average, though one's impression is that it was a better month than usual. Owing to the preceding months being comparatively dry, the ground has not become saturated, consequently growth is ir.ore forward than it generally is at this time of the year. SPRING lb COMING.
On July 26th weeping willows in sheltered places were in leaf, and by the end of the month the buds on some late varieties of peaih irees were opening, some blossoms being quite out. Grass h3s msda considerable growth since the beginning of July.
