Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, Victoria and Lome streets, Auckland, reports Poultry came forward this week in very heavy supplies to a good market and high prices were obtained, in cas63 extreme prices were realised. Fruit has firmed, and the market has an upward tendency. Potatoes are a shade easier with very heavy sales. Southern seed potatoes are in strong demand. Butter is firmer. Eggs, slightly lower prices realised than last week. Swedes are slow of sale. Pumpkins, market firm. We quote : (These prices are not what we obtained for the pure bred birds). Poulry: Roosters, table 3s (3d to -Is 10d ; ordinary, 2s Gd to 3s. Cockrels, Is 3d to Is Bd. Hens, ordinary, 2s (id to 3s 3d ; special, extra heavy up to 3s lOd. A line of 250 pullets realised 3s to 4s 3d. Ducks, 2s 3d to 2s lid. Geese, 3s 6d. Turkey gobblers, 7s to 10s. Hens, Is to 6s 3d.
