j For School Teachers. Proposed Pukekohe Centra. Mr Kcyd Garlick, director cf physical culture for the Dominscu, was present at Wednesday's meeting ol the Auckland EducatioD Board and eave the Board an outline of the woik cone by tha 10 instructors under his direction. The teaching ot physical culture recently inaugurated by the Department bad proved a great sue ess as far as it had gone. At Hamilton a courEts of instruction was just fceirg given. One hundred and fifty teachers had attended, and only four absented themselves during the course. He announced that Mr Moore, one of the Department's instructors, would remain permanently in Auckland, an:! would arrange classes of squads of 30 for the physical training of the teachers. He explained that one instructor could not handle a squad of more than 30 in a fortnight. The instructors had th'ir hands full until ths end of September. It was proposed to carry on tee work of instruction during the scr.o 1 year. In reply to the chief icspector (Mr E. K. Mulgan), Mr Garlick said it was proposed to establish a centre either at Pukekohe or Auckland for physical instruction for the convenience of those teachers who lived along the railway line.
