Young Mark McUovern, of Pukekohe, was this morning thrown from a horse and sustained slight concussion of the brain. A meeting of the railway officials of the district is to be held at Pukekohe to-morrow night to discuss tha question of holding a railway ball at Pukekoha. This week a commencement has been made with the erection of the ne v trick building for the "Times," and the concrete foundations are now well on the way. The secretary of the Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce has received word from the Department that in response to the representations of the Chamber the Department have decided to erect a lamp at the street end of tha footpath leading to the station. Dr Makgill, of the Health Department, waa in Pukekoha to-day and went over the proposed drainage area. The purpose of the visit was to advise the Borough Council as to the best means of dealing with the night-soil and soap-suds difficulties. Now that the Karaka Road Board have received word that their loan of £1)000. has been sanctioned, the work of tailing the levels, which had Leai temporarily suspended, will be pushed forward. Active preparations will be made to enable the grading and forming to be commenced with the advent of summer.
