The Borough Councillors were in a talkative mood on Wednesday t.ight, tha meeting lasting from 7 to 11 f.m. There were lengthy riscursions en many subjects cf interest to ratepayers, and detailed reports) of these v;ill appear in due course.

At the Borough C'cunci' meeting on Wednesday it was mentioned ihat a rumour was abiut that the Railway Department contemjrtated closing up !he private road coming from the yard into Manukau road opposite the Loan and Mercantile Company's sale yards, Pollock tated t!?at the engineecr had tc Id him it would le do e! t mporarily to put it in good order, but there was r.o intention to shut it up permanently. Councillors expressed thvir satisfaction at this, as it was considered its closing would have proved a serious inconveniiij-e.
As will be seen from an advertisement, Mr B. Andrew is convening a meeting of all those in favour cf holding a sacred concert, i:i aid cf the Cemetery Funds. Thi meeting it to take placj in the library on Saturday evening, at 8 o'clock.
