Another Good Saturday,
The shs_otii g by the Puk.kohe Gun Club on Satjrday was very much enjoyed, notwithstanding that the weather was not quite perfect. There were 14 competitors for Mr Graham's trophy, a ten bird match, which was won by F. Mouldey, 14 yards, with 8 birds. J. Fauselt, 15 yarc's, was second with 7 bi:ds, all with t.'ie fiist barrei; and L. Mouldey, 12 yards third, with 7 lircla, four first barrel, 'lhe competitor.) were:— W. Wilton, 13 yards 6; A. P. Davsh, 12 yards, 6;. L. Ejr.\ 12 yards, G; J. Gardner, 14 yad?, 5; J. Wright, 11 yard j , 5; J. Ktnnelh', 10 yards, 5; J. Reynolds, 14 yards 5; A. Vujueich, 13 yards, 4; K. McGough, 11 yards, 3. For the six-bitd sweepstakes lh:re were ten competitors. Ihe wir.nst wm J. Fauset', 15 yards, witli all birds kilhd. L. Eyre, 12 yaids, and J. Wright, 11 yards, five birrfs each, had to Ehcot off for second place and Eyre won. There were also ten competitors for the five-bird sweepstakes. L. Eiye, L Mould y ar.d F. Mouldey got five birds each. Eyre won first, L. Mouldey sscond. "IHE BIG SHOOT." A general meeting of the Pukekohe Gun Club was held in the Library on Monday Mr J, Kennclly presiding, ind ten members bfirg present. Ih3 prircipal business oi the evening was the arrangement of dttails of the shoolirg carnival to he held under tt:e auspices of the Club, f hj; first matter to be settled was the date. After a Lrief discussion Thursday, July 24th, was selected. It was decided to adopt tha S3rr.e rules as thooe which noverned tha shcot at Te Aroha, with the addition that second nominators will be received on the ground, provided they are made prior to the shooter going to his mark. S me argument ensued ai to the number o' birds for the big shoot, 1 members expressing the opinion that 15 was too few, and there would he tco many tie 3. Findly, it was decided to make tha tuxbar of bid 3 21. It was resulved to fire eff tha s:cor.d roaiinatior.s after the fust tan tirc:s had been fired fcr. 'lhe following (fficiab were appointed Trapp.r, Mr J. referej and handicapper, Mr W. Curtis; scorer, Mr blackboard steward, Mr J. Beatty; call stewards, Messrs J. Fausett and F. Graham; ammunition steward, Mr J. Bowden; gate stewards, Messrs D. Iwidle and W. Pierce. It was decided to hold a smoke concert on the evening of the shoot. SELECTION COMMITTEE. A selector's lot, like that of the policeman of comic opera, is tot a happy cue. The present selection committee wai.tid to be relieved ct their duties, but this difficulty at once arose: "Who was to take their places V The secretary made the suggestion that the selection be left to tha committee who would each pick a tan and the shooters getting the most vote 3 would constitute the team. The suggestion met with fav.ur, but no definite action was taken. HANDIUAPPERS. "You'll have to handicap yoi,rsilvts if you don't do sGmathing. I have done it lor the last four Saturdays, and I am not going to do it ary more," remarked the secretary. Members (xprers-d the opinion that the secretary had earned out hla tut.es well, and hoped ha would co: tinue. Finally, Mr Fausett proposed that Mr Daysh be handicapper. Mr Beatty seconded the rcaJution. Mr Dayah: I do object. 1 propose Mr Ke:nelly. Mr Kennelly: I object. Memteis urgd Mr Daysh to keep on ttie duties es handicapper •'When they growl too much, call a meeting and resign," rematktd one member. Finally, Mr Day.-.h consented, and the raseting said "hurrah." PHEASANTS. The Auckland Acclimatisation Society, in reply to an application frum the Club for pheasants, which ic wes proposed to liberate on Mr R, Pilki gton's property, stated that no biras could be supplied to any club which was not affiliated to tlis Society. Model rul.s were forwarded and a month given for consideration. THE NEIL BENEFIT. It was decided to ask all numbers of the Club for contributions towards the benefit fund for Mr T. Neil, who recently met w-th a serious accider.t at Te Aroha.
