RAGLAN COUNTY.
What it Raises by Rates. The general rate ever Raglan County for the year ended 31st March last realised £4783 6s 6d, the whole amount heitig collfded. The rate was collected on the unimproved value of properties, and was diatiibuted as follows over the various lidirgs:—Onewhero, Id rate, £'6ls 12s 8d; Pckekawa, Id rate, £302 9s lid: Whar.gspf, IJd rat*-, £689 63 7d; Karamu, Id rate, £2lB 10s 2d; Pukemio, id rate, £230 3s 6.1; Kirioi, 2*d rate, £442 19s sd; Whainearoa, rate. £497 5s sd: Waingaro, l£d rate, £493 10s 8d; Pirongia, lid rate, £339 16s lOd; Port Waikato, Id rate, £203 3s 2d; and Te Akau, Jd rate, £3OO 7s lid. A sum of £lO3l 17s id was received from the Government as subsidy on the 1911-12 general rate. The hcspital rnte collected for the past year was Jd in the £ en the capital value, and produced £796 14s lid, all of which haa been paid. To pay inteiest a:d redemption on leans, various anrual recurring ratea to the total of £797 8s Id wera levied over 17 special rating districts. The whole of th'is amount was collected.
Including general, huspitul and special rates, the total amount due for the year ending 31st March, 1913, was £6377 9s 3d, all of which was collected by the erd of January, this teing the fifth successive year that the Council has collected the whole cf its rates.
