Committee's Annual Meeting.
The annual meeting of the Franklin Licensing Committees was held in Fukekohe on Thursday; presentMessrs F. V. Fraser, S.M (in the chair), Messrs W. G. Motion, P. J. McGovern, J. D. Chalmers and J. Schlaepfer. PERMANENT TRANSFERS.
Permanent transfers were granted: —J. W. H. Brijht to R. MCcrmack, Howick; W. (J. Abbott to Martin Cobbald, Pukekohe; J. Parkinson to Clarence Waterman, Pnpakura. Issues, in addition to the foregoing, were granted to Robert Forter and C. G. Taylor (Drury). RENEWALS. Renewals were granted to R. T. Reid (Waiuku), T. B. Bailey (Mauku), I. E. Smith. THE MAUKU INN. Mr J. D. Chalmers said he thought it was time that the Mauku Inn paid an hotel license; there was a big trade there. He moved, That the fee be £2O.
Mr Holloway, who appeared for the licensee, protested against the proposed increase. Unfortunately, his client was not present so that he could not go into the merits of the proposal. Mr Fraser said it was for th: Committee to fix the tee from year to year. These accommodation licenses were intended for places where there was no local traffic, but where a house was necessary for the acommodation of travellers. If there were anything like a local traffic at Patumahoe then it was for the committee to say whether the lcenseo should not be called upon to apply for a publican's license. Finally, it was agreed to make the tea £ls for this year, and the Commitee asked that a police report be furnished for the next March quarterly meeting, as to whether the bu3ines3 ( "done at would warrant the issue of a publican's license with a fee of £25.
