ROAD BOARD MEETING.

Bombay. There were only about 15 ratepayers present on Saturday, May 3rd, ihe wintry weather no doubt being responsible for so small an attendance. Mr W. H. Thomas, chairman of the Board, presided. The balance sheet was read, the total income being £630 13s 7d. The principal items were:—Balance £261 19s lOd, rates £241 13s lOd, Government subsidy £l3 16s, deferred payment thirds £6O 2s 3d, Maungatawhiri Board (half cost metal for Great South road) £4l 3s 4d. The total expenditure was £569 3s 7d. Of this £35 16s Id went for administration, £36 Os 4d miscellaneous, £53 33 2d interest on loan, roads and bridges construction £441 5s Bd, leaving a credit balance of £6l 10s. Assets: Cash in bank and hand £94 8s sd, rates outstanding £9 5s sd, subsidy £4O, total £143 13s lOd. Liabilities: £llß 0s sd. The chairman reported that grants had been applied for for different works in the district, and that threa grants, totalling £350, had appeared on the Estimates (jlast year. The Board had submitted proposals for the expenditure of this money and he had no doubt that the expenditure would be authorised shortly. A hearty vote of thanks was passed (o the outgoing Board. Mesrss H. Landon and S. Allison returned thanks. KOAD BOARD MEETING. The first meeting <?f the new Board was held immediately after the annual meeting; present—Messrs W. H. Thomas and W. H. Acderton (reelected), Messrs A. Best, G. W. Ortar and G. Wsotten (new members). Mr Thomas was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. He thanked members for the honour they had done him in re-electing him and expressed the hope that all would work amicably together. After some discussion it was decided to hold the Board's meetings at 2.30 p.m. on tha first Saturday in the month up to and including the September meetings, and after that at 7.30 p.m. Lota were drawn to decide which members wt:re to retire at the end of twelve months, Messrs Anderton and Carter drawing the retiring members.
