WAIPIPI: EAST END.
FINE WEATHER. We are getting on towards the end of April with almost hot sunnier days and iather c.ld nights, with an occasional light frost which has a tendency to check tha growth of young grasses (a considerable arta having been laid down throujhout thn district). But thsre you are; you can't have the cake and eat it, too. Un the other hand tha fine, $ dry weathsr is giving the member* of the Road Board a good chance to get the roads in fair order prior to the Council taking them over. NEW RESIDENCE. The erection of a tie v residence for Mr W. Dickey is another evidence or progress in the district. chaff-cutting:. Barriball an;l Fenwick'a chaffcutting- plant is in the district again, hard at work, with fine weather for the jib. SOCIAL AND DANCE. On Friday evening, last a social and dance was held in the schoolroom, principally got up by the la lies. From a dancing point of viaw it was a great success. Mr J. W. Mlchie was M.C. Good • music was supplied by several gentlemen. Djring tha evening Jj Father Skinner gave two and a F.ong, which nearly the roof down with hand claps. The ladies supplied tha supper which was really very nice.
