THE OVERHEAD BRIDGE.
Dropped Between the Rails The Minister for Railways lias replied to the application of the Chamber of Commerce to have the overhead bridge at the Pukekohe railway station carried over all sets of rails as follows: "This matter has been especially enquired into by the Chief Engineer personally on the ground and it is found that it is entirely unnecessary to extend the bridge beyond the goods shed. A clejir space oi' at least fifty feet must be left between waggons standing on the outer loop siding to allow cart access to the goods shed and foot passengers can always get through. The movement of trucks on this bop siding will not be a menace to safety. Provision will be made fur a footpath, raised above the road level, from the foot of the stairs to the gate and this will obviate walking through the sea of slush anticipated. In the circumstances I regret 1 am unabio to accede to the request."
