INTERESTING OUTING.
CARLTON SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC. A picnic id connection with the above-mentioned Sunday school was held on Saturday Bth inst., in Mr J. Steenson's paddock. About 150 people, including many children, gathered together and spent a most enjoyable day. This Sunday school is a purely undenominational ere. It waa founded some six years ago and has been canied on ever since by Mrs and Miss Henderson. From a very small start a total of over sixty pu| ils is now on the roll. A committee was elected consisting of the following:—Messrs Hill, M. T. Woods, Painter, J. Steenson, R. Sproul, J. Douglas and Routley, who took the matter in hand. Subscription lists wjre started and soon amounted to the sum o( £B, with which prizes lor the numerous nacts were bought. The following ladies, Mesdames Henderson, Taylor, fctetnson, Painter Robinson, and the Misses Henderson, Robinson, Woods and D. Woods took the matter of providing the eatables—no easy task—in hand. The fruits of their labour was duly appreciated by all present. Unlimited credit is due to Mrs and Miss Henderson for their earnestness over this matter and tbeir never-ceasing desire to do gcod to all by endeavouring to train the children in the right way. Chuich services are regularly held at Mr Henderson's residence, and on a recent Sunday evening over 90 people attended. Boys" race, age 8 to 10. —G. Steenson 1. Girls' race, age 10 to 14—V. Steeneon 1. Boys' racp, age 10 to 14— R. Fulton 1. Potato race—K. Watson 1. Egg an 1 ! spoon race—A. Rogers 1. Needle race, boys aDd girls—l. Fulton and K. Watson 1. Obstacle race.—N. Gillon 1. Nail driving for ladies—Mrs Taylor 1, Mrs W. Mcflally 2. Tug- of - war, young ladies v. Married. —Won by young ladies. Tug-of-war, married men v. single.—Won by married men.
