PUKEKOHE WEST LIBRARY
"We nothing extenuate, nor get down aught in malice."
The annual meeting of subscribers to the Pukekohe West PuDlic Library is to be held in the Library on Thursday, 16th inst, at 8p m The balance-sheet shows that the receipts !or the year amount to £B6, made up as tollows:—Balance from previous year £7, subscriptions £l3, rent £26, Government subsidy £lO, donation from the Sports Club £3O. The expenditure includes £37 for books, and a balance in hand of £25. The most unsatisfactory item is the small amount of £l3 /or members' (subscriptions. This shows one of two things: either that the Library is very badly managed, or else that tne people of Pukekohe take very little interest in literary matters We notice that the Rev. F. B. Dobson proposes to sell the piano and bagatelle table. We have not so far been able to give much consideration to the Library affairs, but we would urge members to be cautious in disposing of such useful assets as a piano and bagatelle table. We hope that there will be a I'.g meeting on Thursday, and that the affairs of the Library will be put on a much better footing.
