GLENBROOK.
SOCIAL. A social evening was given by the Hall Committee on New Year's Eve in the Public Hall, and proved very enjoyable, a good number being present to usher in the New Year and wish one another a happy and prosperous time. ANNUAL PICNIC. The annual picnic is going tD be held in the old place (Mr Hodgkinson's paddock) on the 16th. A strong committee nas been formed, and judging by the way they are collecting money it ought to be a success. The picnic and sports are free, hot water is provided, with swings, etc., for the children. WELL BORING. Mr Gilberd is in the district with his boring plant, being at pxesent boring for water for Mr T. D. Reid. RAIN AND CROPd. The rain has proved very acceptable to everything except the hay makers. The paddocks are taking oa a green tinge again, which will help to keep the milk supply up, and also bring on the late crops of prain, the crops in this district mostly late ones. ROAD WORK. Work on the Hall-road to Pukekoh? is progressing very slowly. There are no signs of any metal yet. It i« to be hoped the Road Board will hurry the contractors up a bit, if only to get the worst places metalled this year
