THE LATE MRS PAGE. The Manawatu Herald, published at Foxton, of January 4th, says:— "The death occurred on New Year a Day uf Mary Ann, wife of Mr Page, aenr., of Foxton. The deceased, who was 77 yeara of age, had been a resident of Foxton for about three years, having previously resided in Pukekohe. She had been ill for some four months and the end was not unexpected. The funeral took place yesterday aftertoon." Mis Pnge was very well known throughout this district, in which she lived for many years. In "an appreciation," published in the Herald, a writer says—"The late Mrs Page was known by those who came in contact with ber aa a woman of saintly character. Her religion was that of the Church of England, and the Prayer Book wan her constant companion. With her husband she attended All Saints' every Sunday morning and always made her Communion once a month at least. In her younger days she was the "mother" of the neighbourhood where she lived—young and old came to her with tbrir difficulties, and tbey always left her feeling the load lighter, and in many rases tiken away altogether. Although she reached the age of 77, the wear of life never rubbed off the bloom of childlike happiness. She went on bravely doing her daily duties, and never lost sight of the sunshine even when at times the gloom was thick. During her four months' illness she showed wonderful patience, bearing every pain, in that beautiful faith that her Heavenly Father knew what was best. Her husband says "she was the best of wives," and she would say "he was th° bett of husbands." and so these two lived tor many years in the happiness of wedded love. And they are sepai - ated just for a little season, and then reunion in that deathless land where there will he no more parting and no more sorrow."
