LOCAL AND GENERAL.
As a result of the representations of the Borough Council, the Railway Department are replacing the tumbledown fence facing the Pukekohe Hotel with a tew one. There was another large house <it the All Star Pictures on Wednesday night, and general appreciation was expressed at the excellent programme fubmitted. On Monday night the chief picture will be "A Humble Hero," a dramatic story of a dog's devotion to his master. A fine scenic film, "On the Nile," as well as several dramas and comics will alsu be screened. On Wednesday the pitrons o! The All Star Pictures will be afforded an opportunity of seeing the famous film "Zigomar v. Nick Carter." Ihis picture, which is 3500 feet long, is full of sensational incidents. On Tuesday Tuakau is to be visited. Mr A. C. C. Hunter, of the National Bank, who nas been in Pukekohe for the past two years, has received word of promotion in the bank's service to Pa (jarc a, north of Auckland. During his residence here Mr Hunter has identified himself with tennis and golf, as treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce, and in other aciiviries fur the promotion of the town. He l.aves for his new sphere of labour to-morrow (Saturday) morning, and Mr Hunter will carry with him the goodwill of a large circle of frieods. The vacancy created in the local bank will be filled by Mr Newborn, from the Auckland office.
