PUKEOWARE.
RECOGNITION. On January 2nd Messrs Wesley Barriball and Richard James attended the post office a:.d made a "silver presentation" to Mr David Lawton, in rcognition of the many obligements the setlers have received from him since he has had charge of the postal work. Mr Lawton greatly appreciated the present and the spirit that prompted the people of the districtto think ot him. The remuneration received for the work is so very small"-** that sjme further recompense was necessary, ihe whole affair came as a pleasant sutprise to Mr Lawton. CREAMERY MISHAP. On Thursday a breakdown occurred in the creamery, the super-heater going wrorg. As th<s accident happened before any milk had been received, the suppliers all made for the Mauku creamery, where their milk was received. Mr Osbourne immediately set about effecting repans and all was ready for next morning's run.
