KARAKA ROAD BOARD.
Monthly Meeting Tiio monthly nieeiing of the Karaka lcoad Board was held on December 21 ; present — Messrs liatty (cluiirimiu), Johnston, Sutton, and Swann. The chairman read a telegram from the State Guaranteed Advances Department stating that tliero was an it regularity 111 notifying the intention to raise a loan twice in each of two papers instead of four times in one. aud that an Order-in-Couneil would be required to validate this. The consequence will probably be another delay in obtaining the loan. It was agreed to get Mr Gannon, engineer, to inspect the load by Mr iSutt"ii's property, with a view to t'onniiig; and also the road from Paerata station, coming up the hill, with the object of making a deviation if practicable. Messrs Hatty and Sutton are to show .MiGannon round. All application from Unpilnrt Bros., to have the road through their property formed was received, and it was agreed that Mr Batty and Mr Glasson, the members for that part of the district, should make an inspection. It was decided to put new planks on Mel'horson's bridge. A few small accounts were passed i'oi - payment, and the meeting closed.
