Wake up, Pukekohe!
[TO THE EDITOR, j Sir, —Uy the condition of the weatlur tc-ciay (Monday) it is very apparent that summer is here. Being a r.ew resident to your t'lwn, and ever since I came hire, ihere has been a great cry about v.ater. Now, Sir, that we have the water laid on can you inform me if there is any possible way of utilising it to fight the dust nuisance? For myself I say a water cart would Le a very pleasant sight to many eoing down King street. Ihe traffic throuah that street is very heavy, and the flying through occasionally of a few n:ot:r cars is almost more than one can stand. If we cannet get a cart perhaps we can get permission from the Council to sprinkle the road opposite our residences, by attachirg a few yards of '.use to our water supply. The Liotough Council have got their hands full, I admit, but hope this iittle matter will not be lust sight of in the near future. Changing the subject to another quarter, I think something should be done in the shape of letter delivering for the benefit of shopkeeper?, etc. The size of Pukekohe, I am sure, quite warrants a postman calling and delivering his letters and parcels through the town on foet, as it is r.ot always convenient for one to put his hat and coat on and go down to the post office for a parcel, a few inches in diameter. Can you, Sir, eeliglnen me if anything 13 possible to.be done in that respect?— I am, etc, W. WRIGHT.
