Tte Pukekohe School yiicnic into be hell on December 20th. To-night the popular All Star pictures will piesent an excellent pictorial fare, the principal drama being a magnificent film " The Charge of the Light Brigade." These shows are of such high merit that nothing further need be said by way of recommendation. The Pukekohe School Committee, at their rr,e.''in£ last night, decided lo write to Mr George George. Director of Technical Education to the Auckland Education Board, askin? what aTrangemart? he had in view for class-:a next year at the Pukekohe Technical School. The OdJfellnws' Hall, Pukekohe, wns picked fo the doors last night to see and hear the bio-megaphon?, or speaking pictures. Judging by the applau=e the show was thoroughly ci joyed all through. The pictures contained several excellent films, in which the comic element predominated. Mr P. B. Erlandson, baker, of Pukekohe, has been successful in gaining second prize for bakers' bread at the Auckland Show. A new advertisement appears in this issue, and is well worth perusing. If you want one of Erlandson's famous Christmas cakes it will be wise to order i: early. The Onewhero division of the 16th Waikato Tei ritorial Pediment purpose holding a Grand Military Ball at Onewhero on December 13th. The function gives promise of being a big success, lovers of the " light fantastic " are bound to roll up in force. On the Pukekohe bowling green on Saturday the Star holders ("W. Adams. J. Roulston, J. Adams and Cahi ll , skip) war led off an assault by Townson, Keith, Egginton and Eames, skip, and -won by two points. The competition games aro going off fairly well, but members should get their matches played as early as possible. A champion pairs game lias b n en added and nominations for this fine event close on Saturday next. Members should not miss arranging their partners and entering promptly. At the recent Pama Rama flower show the Pama Rama school pupils won is firsts and 12 second prizes, a total of i)C. Karaka scholars took (i firsts and 1 second ; Pukekohe East, •! firsts and 1 seconds ; Bomhay '■) firsts and 3 seconds ; Papakura, I firsts out of live entrii s. Three of the clashes were open to Pama Pain i only. Potato lifting in Pukekohe is s metimes done artistically. A grower the other day noticed that a number of stalks ha 1 wilted and upon investigation he found that the spuds underneath had boon stolen, and the haulms carefully planted back over the robbed roots.
