AKA AKA PLAINS.
A very enjoyable dance was held in the Aka Aka Hall on the 15th. Dancing ctmmer.ced at 8 p.m. and was kept op till two o'clock. There were tetwten 20 acd 30 couples present, and the floor was in excel lent trim. Mcsic was supplied by Messrs Deed, Hammor.d and Leggett. Mr S. barton met with a Blight mishap. In closing a gate after him his horse slipped, throwing him into the drain. He escaped with a good wetting. However, he rode home, changed, atd came back to the dance. Mr A. J. Barriball received 36 piga for J. Adams and Co. at Aka Aka bridge. They were a good rcurd lot, well done, making about 100 pigs for'the season so far. Messrs Hull took a very gcod draft of fat cattle through for the Auckland market last week. R. Hull and t\ Robertsm brought back a good mob of fire store cattle. Mr J. Harris also brought a mob of 90 stores. h. Higginacn kindly asked seme of the settlers to go on a fishing excursion down the river, and some nice little hauls have been brought hone with the launch. As Mr Lapwaod was gohg down the creek with pigs be met with rather a serious accident to bis lautcb. In swinging lound one of the bends a snag ran through the tott m of bis boat, and he had to re turn to the landing with the pigs whili te secured another boat
