THE Pukekohe and Waiuku Times PUBLISHED TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1912

UNKNOWN

"We nothing extenuate, nor set down anjlit in malice."

•3rH£""i"Fiction held in the Masonic Hall, Pukekohe, on Saturday evening was an enthusiastic tiibute to the esteem in which the Hon. Mr Massey is held. When the Prime Minister comes to Pukekohe he is always sure of a hearty welcome He could command that when in "the cold shades of Opposition," and it is only natural when tho member for this district comes amongst us with all the political authority of tho Premiership that tho enthusiasm should bo at its maximum. Upon the lust occasion that Mr Massey visited her' he did not enjoy the distinction of high ollice which invests him now and there were not many who expected that in so a space of time, after tho turning of the political tide, he would be able ' to command so solid a majority in the House of Kepre.M ntativt * and such geneial confidence throughout the country. Notwithstanding the strenuous days and nights endured dining the session that has just ended, Mr Massey was in excellent fighting

form, in the best of spirits and apparently in the best of health. There is no need to refer here to the many enthusiastic speeches that were made in honour of the Prime Minister ; the speakers found it difficult to give adequate expression to the fullness of their satisfaction that after a prolonged and desperate fight up-hill Mr Massey has at length established himself so firmly, not only upon the Treasury benches, but in the hearts of the people. To have so completely destroyed the apparently impregnable ranks of the Liberals was an achievement of which Mr Massey may well be proud, and now that the battle is won the Primo Minister is proving himself the soundest Liberal of them all. We congratulate the promoters of the Pukekuhe function upon the success which attended their efforts, j and the Prime Minister upon the i whole-hearted admiration he enjoys ! fiom his supporters throughout this constituency.
