SECOND TELEPHONE LINE.

Between Auckland and Pukekohe. The Hon. E. Heaton Rhodes, Postmaster-General, has wired to Mr Webstei', president of the Chamber of Commerce, as follows : " With reference to a second telephone wire between Auckland and Pukekohe, about which you and Mr Andrew interviewed tno on Saturday, I find that the second metallic circuit is not completed permanently, but it had boen arranged to bring it into use by utilising an existing cable at Parnell. It has, however, been found that the line is faulty and a lineman is now endeavouring to restore communication. It is hoped the wire will be available for use shortly."
