PUKEKOHE WEST ROAD BOARD.
• A gocd deal uf intereit was taken in the extraordinary election for two seats on the Pukekohe West Road Board, held yesteiday. In view of the bad weather, bad roads, acd the fact that only one booth was open, at Pukekohe, it is an evidence cf interest that fiftj of the 105 vot rs on the roll recorded their votes The result of the contest was that Messrs J. E. West and W. Boase were returned. The voting was:— WEST, J. E. .. 46 BOASE, W. .. 41 GLASGOW, R. ..27 The old fights that have taken place over the location of the main road to Aka Aka from Pukekohe possibly played a part in the election. This is suggested by the way In which tbe people of Pura Pura (Mr West's stronghold) turned up to vote. The result leaves the district very satisfactorily represented, Mr West standing for the interests of the southern sub-divi-sion (Pura Pura and Puni) and Mr Boase for the northern sub-division.
