The Pukekohe Lawn Tennis Club are opening the season on Saturday. Members and their friends are invited to bo present. Loiters for "Moderate" and " A.M.L ," in response to advertisements, await addresses at this oilice. Three candidates have been nominated for the two vacant seats on the Pukekohe West lioad Boardnamely, Messrs W. Bouse, 11. Glasgow, aud J. E. West. The election will take place on Monday, Nov. -1. By the transfer of Mr H. I). Dansoy, engineor-in-charge of the railway construction works in this distiict, the Pukekohe District Golf Club has lost an enthusiastic captain. The club has decided to tender Mr Dansoy an At Homo on Friday next in the Oddfellows' Hail. Dancing will be the chief attraction, for which special niu.de has be> n engaged from Auckland, to be supplied by the Misses Beresford (violin and piano). The floor is to bo specially prepared. Some select ' vocal contributions are being ar- ! ranged for, aud the stage is to be j furnished as a drawing-room, and will be set apart for card games and I social intercourse.
