LADIES' EUCHHE PARIY. Tin laiies' ruchre party, oj V ;n as a return to the men, was held on Friday, 23rd inst., and proved quite a jolly affair. The ladies' committee conducted the whola business, sacured the prizes, collected the "hobs" from the ladies, ladies made the "speeches" and presented the prizes, Mrs H. Crispe, in an opening spesch, annou'iced a new procedure in carrying out the marking, and paid that owing to the generosity of donors they had been able to give 12 prizes—l for la lies, 3 for Farmers' Union members, 3 for nonmnmbers, and 2 for the Farmers' Union committee. Some keen competition resulted in several having to play oil' for first place, aud the finals resulted in Mrs H. Orispe winning a handsome silver-mounted vause for first ladies, with ten out of 12 games played; Miss Howard for second place also got a vause, and Miss Davys, third, a Japanese work basket. Mrs Runciman received, as the ladies termed it, "a consolation prize " for last place. For the members Mr A. E. Robinson was placed first and won a valuable silver match box, presented by Mr 11. Wright, jeweller, Pukekolio; Mr W. Howe, second, silvermounted clothes brush, presented by Mrs S. W. Mills, of Pukekohe. Committee prize, Mr F. Kavanagh, lirs f , stud-box. Non-members—Mr V. Wright, first, set of sleeve links presented by Miss Redaway; Mr E. G. Knight, second, cigar tray. " Consolation prizes " were won by Mr T. Bailey (member) —a " nice Jersey cow, very quiet and easy to milk and requiring no food." Mr Redaway (non-mem-ber), a small pig; and Mr W. Sommerville (committee), a clown. At the conclusion of the play a liberal supply of refreshments was handed round, during which the prizes were presented by Mrs H. Crispe. Mrs Runciman, in a neat speech, on behalf of the ladies, thanked the secretary of the Mauku branch of tho Fanners' Union (Mr M. Crispe) for inaugurating these social functions, at which all had so heartily enjoyed themselves, and Mr Finlay thanked the ladies for this special evening.
