MERCER ROWING CLUB.

Presentation of Trophies. At the Mercer Rowing Club's social the prizes anJ trophies won last season were presented to the successful contestants. Mr W. C. Pickett, president of the Club, in presenting the prizes gave a general resume of the past season's rowing, which had, for a new club, been extremely successful. The Club bad wen two big outside, strongly-contested races against allcomers, one at Ngaruawahia and another at Mercer, and he hoped to sue and expected them to win more in the coming season. The Club was in a good soutd financial position, at d the promised membership would be considerably in excess of last year's. He appealed to residents and others in the district to take an interest in clean sport, and he hoped that those who could not row would help in both financial and other ways, so that the Club would be at the top nf the tree when the season was over. He had very much pleasure in presenting the prizes, which were ks follows: - Trial Fours, October 21st, handbags presented by Mr W. Harold— Crew: W. Hewitt, W. Harold, W. Colling?, T. Wright, A Beamish (cox).

Kelly, T. Cooper, E. Beamish (cox). Nominators: Miss .1. Hunter, Mrs J. Levis (nee Wright), Mrs Kelly, Miss D. Miller. Boys' Dinghey Race, gold medal pre ented by Mr R. Bollard, M.P. — D. Soppett. Trial Fours, December 16th, gold medals presented by Mr W Warnock —Crew: J. Hunter, M. Kapa, E. Sweeney, R. Barro# Boys' Dinghey Race, gold tie pin presented by Master W. Miller— A. Beamish; second prize, trophy, N. Soppett. Trial Fours, March 9th, silver medals presented by Mr W. C. Pickttt—Crew : J. Hui.ter, M. Kapa, M. Roose, W. Colley. Trial Fours, March 31st, silver trophies presented by Mr J. Miller; and also Seymour Cup, presented by Mr Stanley Se>mcur—Crew: T. Wright, E. Sweeney, F. Wright, R. Barrow. A Club jersey was also presented to W. Hewitt, which was won by him at Mixed Trial Fours at Hamilton. A handtomc gold medal, presented by Mr D. Dwyer for the first cox swain in the Club to win an outride race, was won lny L Beamish for coxing the rrew which won the Heavyweight Maidens at Ngaruawahia on Marrb 17th. After the presentation w;is over, dancing was ca'riul on till the early hours of the morniog.
