ALLOCATIONS. It was decided to meat on Tuesday evening next to discuss accounts and settle the allocation* of the monks to be handed ovt r to the Borough Council for expenditure on the formerly under the control of the Board, but now within the borough area. A WATER RESERVE. Further correspondence was read from "the Com nisaioncr of Crown Lands respecting the small water reserve on Bdce's-road, occupied by B. Fitzgerald, Previously the Board bad said that it was net desirable to sell or lease ihb property, but the Commissioner now wants.! to know whether the iand was useful for a reserve. The Board decided to reply that the section had in the past bten so used, and would no doubt be again so used in the future.

RIFLE-RANGE ROAD. The chairman mentioned that he had received a letter to Mr Dunn from Mr Massey to the effect that he (the Prime Minister) woul.l confer with the Min'ster cf Public Works with respect to the application for a grant of £IOO for the Rifle Range-road. Mr Dunn had also received a communication from the Under-Secretary uf Public Works that the matter would be considered when the Estimates were being compiled thii session. FOREMAN. W. Dickson applied for the position of road board surfaceman. He was appointed at 9s 6d per day, and it was decided that his first work wo ild be to attend t) the water table out by R. Glasgow's, Purapura. GENERAL. It was left with Mr Woods to arrange for the spreading and tallying of metal, now being put on Spioul's hill by W. Slade. T. McCallum wrote requesting that the Board should remove the stumps from the road in front of his place.—Left in the hand 3 of Mr Woods, with power to act It was decided to terminate the uncompleted contract of Messrs Fausett and Strongman for crushing and spreading a large quantity of metal. The Board is to pay £67 Is, a'so the claim? of certain sub-contractors not to exceed £6O; all spawls crushed are to become the property of the Board. The matter of arranging for pipes and bridges required on Hamiltun'sroad (to Bucklaod) was left iu Mr Finlay's bands. fhe clerk was instructed to write to Mr Pearce, Pu.ii, desiring him to cut down, within one month, the dead tups .of pine trees running along the road, as they weie regarded as dangerous. Accounts to the amount of £23 lis 9d were passed for payment.

Karaka. A special meeting of the Karaka Koad Board was held on Tuesday. Present—Messrs Batty (chairman), Glasson, Johnston and Sutton. ROAD TO BE SUKVEYED. With regard to Kirk Wood and Ellett's-road, the chairman reported that he and Mr Glasson had made an inspection, as agreed upon at the previous meeting.--It was resolved that the chairman should make arrangements about the necessary surveying. SPECIAL KATE. On the motion of the chairman, it was agreed to make a special annually recurring rate of ninesixteenths of a penny in the pound as security for interest and sinking fund on the £6OOO loan, payable on the Ist of February every year. It was also decided to apply for the loan in instalments, as follows: —£soo on December Ist, £IOOO on December 15th, 1912; £IOOO February Ist, £IOOO March Ist, £2500 October Ist, 1913. ROAD ENGINEER. The chairman was authorised to arrange ior the services of engineers in connection with the loan expenditure. VALUATION KULL. A few alterations in the valuation roll were authorised.
