The monthly meeting of the Pukekoho Chamber of Commerce will be held on Monday night. The All Star Pictures alt .meted large audiences last week, when excellent programmes were submitted. Mr F. Lauer lias been nominated for the directorate (Lower WaiKato) of the N.Z. Dairy Association. If elected, Mr Luuer's public experience and acknowledged keennebs should prove very valu • able to the general body of suppliers. By the latest valuation the total rateable capital value of the Borough of Pukekohe is £351,295. Of that sum the old Town Board area is valued at £184,828, and that part of the Pukekohe West Road District which was incorporated in the Borough at £166,467. Previous valuations were Town Board area, £79,320: part of Road District, £120,53 a. Several times since the constitution of the borough questions have cropped up upon which certain councillors have declined to vote. At the last meeting on a particular question only five of the eight councillors present voted and the Mayor (Mr Dunn) said : "Come gentlemen, this isn't fair. You should have a mind of your own and vote." Against this Cr. Conine demurred. "I don't agree with that at all," he said, "if a councillor has not made up his mind he should not vote." "Then you throw the responsibility upon those who HAVE made up their minds," retorted the Mayor. " Quite right," said Cr. Conirie.
