Mr Perkins: You cannot do that with a perishable article; you could do it with chaff. Mr Sommerville (Mai'ku representative) seld he also thought that supply and demand would govern the pi ice. Mr Hsur'ton said there were two methods by which grading cop Id be done—on the farm by the faiaiers themselves, end at the station by an independent grade' 1 . He moved, That no potato g ader be appo : nted for 'he Pokekohe district. Mr S. Eowe seconded the motion, wb'ch was cai-ied on tbe ayes, a umber not voting. Mr D. Hi I ', sa ; d he favored sett ; ng standard sizes of potatoes so that gjowers could follow it. Mr Fanr'ton moved, That we adopt the system (grad'cg on farms). Mr Sommei /ille seconded tl ; s resolution, wb'ch was declared to be carried uuariuiorsly. After soaie discussion it was dt ;ided on tbe motion of Messrs Hamilton and J. ili'idmai, That the Chamber of Commerce end the Faiaiers' Ui»'on convene a meeting in October to determine the stenda-d s'^es. The opinion was expressed by M»Perkins that the time they had spent discussing matter had not been wasted, and the publicity given vi the paper was bound to produce good resu'ls. Th's opinion was received with applause.
