SKATING CARNIVAL.

A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION,

The Fancy Dress and Poster Carnival, held in the Masonic Hall, Pukekohe, on Saturday night, Julr 6th, attracted a • large number of skaters, whilst onlookers taxed the seating accommodation to its i limits. It is to be regretted considering the excellent prizes that were offered that a larger number did not appear in" fancy or poster dress. Mr W. M. Hopg| ton, of Auckland, acted as judge, and the prizes were awarded as follows Ladies' best fancy dress, Mrs Bayly, Belle of New York ;>?|adies' best poster dress, Miss Cargill as the Pukekohe and Waiuka Times* (a dress which strikingly set out the advantages of advertising in the Times and the superior job printing turned out at that establishment); gents' best fancy dress, Mr Shotbolt as Mephistopholes ; gents' best poster dress, Master L. Wilson as Coyle's Electric Pictures. Another good poster dress was that of Mr J. Western representing Mr J. Miller's tailoring establishment. As the winners were led by the judge to the centre of the room they were greeted with loud applause. On Saturday evening Mr " Monty" Wright presented the prizes to the respective winners, congratulating them on their success and Mr Twidle on his enterprise. • 3
