The Pukekohe and Waiuku Times WEDNESDAY, 10th JULY, 1912.

THE HON. MR MASSEY.

'' We nothing extenuate, nor set down aught in malice

Some eight years ago Mr Massey, member for Franklin, placed himself at the head of a shattered remnant called the Opposition. Since then he has fought three elections and in those short engagements he has cut away what appeared to be an invincible force and installed himself and his party upon the Government benches. That is what Mr Massey has done as a leader. As member for this district the new Prime Minister lias over been watchful over the interests of his constituency. It is but natural that his constituents should be proud of his achiovi monts and we most heartily join in the general congratulations Presently we shall emphasize some things that this district particularly want. But for the present we will give breathing space. Mr Massey lias serious responsibilities to the whole of Now Zealand to face just now and Franklin can best help liini by allowing his first thoughts to be for the welfare of the Dominion as a wholo. In winning the Prime Minister as its representative in Parliament the Franklin constituency automatically shares his good offices with the rest of Now Zealand but we are sure that when the time comes the requirements of Franklin will receive his closest attention. For the present, Congratulations. We trust that Mr Massey's term of office in the highest political position in the land may be not without pleasure to himso'f and we hope aud believe it wi" be of profit and for the well-being of the Dominion of Now Zealand.
