AT THE BOROUGH COUNCIL
WEEKLY MEETING.
Those present at Wednesday's mooting of the Pukekohe Borough Council were : The Mayor (Mr W. Dunn) Crs Johns, Berriman, Comrio, Lawrie, Hart, Pollock, Bilkey, and Hamilton! Damage by Water. Reporting upon the complaint of water running .upon Morrow's estate, Cr Cornrie reported th;<t the Committee (himself and Councillors Lawrie and Hamilton), viewed the place. They found it was in a position which received the water right from the top of the hill. It seemed to the committee that it would be a simple matter to got a deviation whereby the water would be run down the branch road to the head of the gully. This, would also improve the road. This would do away with the water difficulty. He thought the £ 150 available from the Pukekohe West Road Board would do the work. Tho Mayor .-said this was a matter they should approach very carefully. Where the natural course of water went, there it must go. And if they took the water off that course and on to any other property it might lead to all sorts of difficulties. He proposed, That the foreman take the levels, determine whero tho water comes from and report to the next meeting. Cr Bilkey seconded.—Carried. General. On Cr Johns' motion it was decided to erect notices at certain places warning people not to ride on footpaths. Cr Lawrie reported that in the labor T readjustment the Works Committee / thought it best to pay all the men those required to be taken on again^tDiscussions (reported elsewhere), •* took place on the road work which should be undertaken, and upon the engineer's report about the water supply scheme.
